What Are League of Legends Ranks? How Does It Work?

The way games measure a player's skill level and progress in a competitive environment is through the rank system. It enables players to compete against each other and determine how skillful and knowledgeable they are about the game. One of the most famous games with an extensive rank system is League of Legends (LoL).

League of Legend is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that is free-to-play and was developed and published by Riot Games. The rank system in LoL assesses players based on their performance in ranked games, which provides various tiers and divisions representing different levels of skill. Players can elevate their rankings by winning ranked games and earning League Points (LP).

The rank system in LoL comprises nine tiers, starting from Iron and progressing up to Challenger. Each tier is then split into four divisions, except for Challenger, which has only one division. Players can move up or down the ladder by gaining or losing LP, respectively. To reach a higher tier, players must win a promotion series, which consists of three games played against other players in the same tier and division.

At the end of each season, players receive rewards based on their rank, with better rewards given to higher-ranked players.

Each season in LoL lasts around a year, and at the end of each season, players receive rewards based on their rank. The better the rank, the better the reward. The top players in each region also earn special rewards like unique skins and icons. Apart from the standard rank system, LoL has several other ways to evaluate a player's skill level. Among these is the Honor system, which rewards players for positive behavior and sportsmanship. There's also the Mastery system, which tracks a player's proficiency with specific champions.
